In the UK any silver jewellery over 7.78g in weight is required to be hallmarked

♦A hallmark:

  • Consists of a series of marks applied to articles of the precious metals platinum, gold, palladium and silver

  • Means that the article has been independently tested

  • Guarantees that it conforms to all legal standards of purity (fineness)

  • Guarantees provenance by telling, where the piece was hallmarked, what the article is made from, and who sent the article for hallmarking.

Some pieces made here at Bright as a Button Jewellery may have to be sent away for hallmarking. If this is a specially commissioned piece it will mean that the delivery times may take a bit longer.

There are four Assay Offices in the UK (London, Birmingham, Sheffield, Edinburgh). Jewellery made by us is hallmarked by the London Assay office.

Two marks that you will find on our jewellery are:

*Our sponsor mark

*The London Assay Office

Please refer to the dealers notice for further information
