Launched in December 2018 Bright as a Button Jewellery a small artisan jeweller specialising in handcrafted fine silver jewellery.  Jewellery should be fun attractive and personal hence the name. It plays on the idea that bright means both clever and shiny. It is also said to be the British version of “Cute as a Button” meaning cute, charming, attractive & small among others. Summing up how jewellery should be in my mind.

Drawing inspiration from Art Deco, Nature and of course Buttons, I mould & sculpt metal clay into beautiful pieces of jewellery, adding accents of gold, cubic zirconia and high-quality handpicked gemstones to embellish and add colour to the piece.

Metal Clay Is a relatively young technique originating from Japan in 1990. When fired you are left with beautiful pieces of pure silver jewellery.

All About Bright as a Button....

I’m Jo, originally from the Suffolk coast, I now live in leafy Berkshire with my husband. I have always been crafty, my first recollection of making jewellery was in an activities week at high school, but didn’t pursue it any further, preferring to follow my other love, food.  I trained as a chef and baker and went on to work in the baking industry.

I started making jewellery again as a bit of an outlet after a day in the office! Starting with beaded jewellery, which I sold to raise money for charity, I progressed to making silver jewellery, after being introduced to it by a friend. I haven’t looked back since, taking numerous courses honing my skills and learning new techniques.
